2012 Porsche Boxster S Black Edition

Porsche Boxster S Black Edition Has More Features, More Value and More Horsepower

This 320-horsepower roadster will go fast, especially with production limited to only 987 units worldwide

Following on the heels of the recently announced 911 Black Edition, Porsche introduces a new, luxurious and limited edition Boxster S this spring. The 2012 Boxster S Black Edition features a 10-horsepower boost and a long list of standard equipment at an attractive price.

This new mid-engine sports car is only available in solid black and features a monochrome treatment with a black body, black convertible top and black-painted 19-inch Boxster Spyder design wheels. Normally contrasting trim pieces from the Boxster S are also painted for a uniform look: the supplemental safety bars and side air intake grilles are painted black, as are the twin exhaust tailpipes and the model designation on the rear luggage compartment lid. A Black Edition model designation is embossed on the side of the fabric roof.

The monochromatic theme continues to the interior where black is the only available color, with aluminum and stainless steel used as accents. The brushed stainless steel door-entry guards feature Black Edition lettering, and the standard SportDesign steering wheel features twin aluminum-look spokes with a rim of smooth-finish black leather. Also painted black are the trim strips on the dashboard and around the six-speed manual shift lever or the gear selector for the optional Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) seven-speed double clutch transmission, while the instrument dials are black instead of the usual white. Two final touches are the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests and a limited-edition badge on the glove compartment.

Like the 911 Black Edition, the Boxster S Black Edition combines Porsche’s popular option packages to deliver additional value to customers. The black-painted exterior and interior touches are part of the Design package available on other Boxster models. The Convenience package, also standard, includes Bi-Xenon™ headlights with dynamic cornering function, a wind deflector, auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, rain sensor and automatic climate control. Finally, the Infotainment package adds a touch-screen Porsche Communication Management system with navigation, BOSE® surround-sound system and XM® Satellite Radio with XM NavTraffic®.

The Black Edition’s chassis builds on the foundation of the Boxster S, which already features exceptional balance and handling. The lightest 19-inch wheels in the Porsche lineup are fitted 235/35 ZR 19 tires up front and 265/35 ZR 19 in the rear, providing a visually dynamic upgrade from the 18-inch wheels on the regular Boxster S.

A 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection, mounted in front of the rear axle, produces 320 horsepower — 10 more than in the Boxster S while also delivering excellent fuel economy, particularly when coupled with the PDK transmission. With PDK, the Boxster S Black Edition will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and reaches a top track speed of 170 mph while achieving EPA estimated fuel economy of 19 city and 26 highway (20/29 when equipped with PDK). An optional Sport Chrono package further reduces 0-to-60 acceleration times to 4.6 seconds, two-tenths of a second faster than the Boxster S, while providing a launch control function and more aggressive Sport and Sport Plus shift strategies.

The 2012 Boxster S Black Edition price is $65,200 which gives buyers added value on several levels considering the extra functional and visual upgrades and the enhanced power output. When compared to the MSRP of a comparably equipped Boxster S, this limited edition model saves the buyer $3,200.

ferrari2010 california

CHARACTERISTICS:
ferrari california is a car that is really good. imagine if you are driving a car. must be very pleasant. The California is a first for the carmaker sporting a front mounted V-8 engine. The motor has direct injection features and it is married to a seven-speed tranny. The latter coupling is a first for the famed sports car maker, and the hardtop retractable function is also a first.

california a latest model of Ferrari that you may be expecting. The car is based on the former Maranello configurations, and the addition of a F430-based 4.3 Liter V-8, motor contributes to the additional fourteen ft-lbs of torque, but the direct injection forces the horsepower to dip to 454 hp. The seven-speed paddle-shifting tranny hosts an outstanding dual clutch component. The California has the first launch control system by Ferrari helping the car to achieve amazing acceleration.

The California is a gorgeous offering for open-air drives and it delivers impeccable power and performance: another fine addition to Ferrari's lineup.
The Range
Bodystyle: Convertible
Engine: 4.3L V-8
Transmission: 7-speed dual-clutch automatic
Model: California
What's New
Brand-new for the 2010 model year, Ferrari's first-ever folding-hardtop convertible perhaps isn't the most striking design in the Maranello stable, but there's no denying the driving delights the California provides. From its screaming front-mounted V-8 to its near-perfect dual-clutch 7-speed to its gorgeous, comforts-filled cabin, the California is nothing short of supercar bliss --alfresco style.
Exterior
Okay, we don't love it. While the California is by no means unattractive, it's not the most innovative or memorable of Ferrari's recent designs. For sure, the best angle on this one is from the driver's seat.
Interior
While the exterior is a bit of a letdown, the cockpit more than compensates --thanks to an abundance of goodies (including standard navigation), luscious tailoring, and fabulous seats. Oh, and you simply can't beat unlimited headroom.
Performance & Handling
Ferrari may call the California a "gran turismo," but after a few minutes behind the wheel you'll be thinking "supercar." How does 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds sound? Actually, with that twin-cam V-8 howling to 8000 rpm right in front of you, it sounds simply sizzling. Also on board are standard ceramic brakes and a chassis as sticky as it is smooth.
Safety
The expected protective measures are all in place, including dual front and side airbags and standard stability and traction-control systems. Also, those amazing ceramic binders can stop the car from 60 mph in just 100 feet.

2011 Lexus IS250

CHARACTERISTICS:
Lexus engineered the IS; this vehicle was designed so that it could rival Audi A4s, the C Class by Mercedes Benz, the G37 by Infiniti, and the 3 Series by BMW. The Lexus IS entered the market in 2000 and by 2005, it entered a new generation. The IS is offered in several trims: the IS 250 and 350 sedans. The 250 sports a 2.5 Liter V-6, 204 horsepower engine coupled with a manual or auto tranny.

The 350 sports a 3.5-Liter V-6, 306 horsepower engine joined to a six-speed auto tranny. Both configurations are offered with all-wheel-drive. The IS F, a lot like the M3, the AMG, and the Audi S, is new too. It sports a 5.0-Liter V-8, 416 horsepower engine joined to an eight-speed auto tranny. It has a cabin large enough for four, it is sport-tuned, and the suspension is lowered.

Another addition is the 250 and 350 C version. These versions are convertibles with hardtops that retract. These cars have the same tranny and engines as other IS configurations, but all-wheel-drive is not an option.
The Range
Body styles: Sedan, convertible
Engines: 2.5L V-6, 3.5L V-6, 5.0L V-8
Transmissions: 6-speed manual, 8-speed automatic, 6-speed automatic

Convertibles add a new Luxury Package with new interior colors, while sedans are available with the F Sport Package (18-inch wheels, sport suspension, sport seats). Adaptive Front Lighting has been discontinued.
Exterior
A new front grille and bumper, plus revisions to the rear end help refresh the looks of the IS lineup. There are new 17- and 18-inch wheels, too. Style is modern and sporty, and the IS F looks lower and meaner.
Interior
Leather and wood touches abound throughout the interior of the IS. Heated and ventilated front seats, driver seat memory, 14-speaker surround sound audio, Bluetooth, and navigation are available. The IS F receives new optional orange and black leather seats.
Performance & Handling
The IS has an excellent chassis and provides a fun drive on twisty roads. Ride is a little rough in the standard IS, which is worse in the IS F. Having said that, the IS F is immensely entertaining on the road -- it scoots to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Braking from 60 mph only takes 108 feet.

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder

Stuttgart. Today is the day that Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, puts on sale the 918 Spyder super sports car with its innovative plug-in hybrid drive. Production development is proceeding apace in the wake of the outstanding customer response to the concept car unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2010. Thanks to its unique hybrid technology, the 918 Spyder is estimated to consume a mere three litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (94 mpg imp.) based on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Its V8 engine delivers more than 368 kW (500 hp), assisted by two electric motors with a total of at least 160 kW (218 hp). The 918 Spyder is available for immediate order priced from 645,000 Euro – subject to VAT and country-specific charges.

To ensure a 918 Spyder’s exclusivity, the two-seater is limited to no more than 918 units. The earlier a customer orders his vehicle, the earlier it will be delivered, as production is initialised in the same sequence in which orders are received. Production of the 918 Spyder is scheduled to commence on 18 September 2013 – 9/18 in US date convention – in a quasi manufacturing operation at Porsche’s main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Delivery of the initial vehicles will commence in November 2013.

The design’s DNA is derived from the Carrera GT and Porsche 917 sports car as well as the RS Spyder and is very closely modelled on the 2010 concept car. Unlike the concept car, however, the production version of the two-seater, based on a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic monocoque, features a manual roof system with removable roof panels that can be stowed in the front luggage compartment.

The 918 Spyder is driven by a unique type of plug-in hybrid system. It comprises a high-revving V8 engine with a displacement exceeding four litres and output of more than 368 kW (500 hp). The mid-engine power unit is based on the racing engine of the successful Porsche RS Spyder, which provided impressive proof of its efficiency with its multiple victories in the Michelin Green X Challenge in the American Le Mans Series, the Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Power transmission to the rear wheels is by means of a compact, seven gear Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK). This is complemented by two electric motors – one each on the front and rear axle – with a joint mechanical output of at least 160 kW (218 hp). This configuration offers an innovative, variable all-wheel drive with independent control of the propulsion force on both axles. The energy storage unit is a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery that can be charged from a conventional domestic power socket, delivering a range in excess of 25 km (16 miles) in the NEDC on purely electric power. The charging time depends on the country-specific mains network, being approximately three hours in Germany, for example. A quick charging option is planned to reduce charging time yet further.

The 918 Spyder’s combined total fuel consumption in the NEDC (ECE-R 101) is anticipated to be 3.0 l/100 km (94 mpg imp.), equating to CO2 emissions of 70 g/km (112 g/mile). Despite that, the super sports car offers performance of the highest order. It accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a maximum of 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of more than 320 km/h (199 mph). That means the Spyder will be able to manage a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than seven minutes and 30 seconds – trumping the Porsche Carrera GT, which needs seven minutes and 32 seconds. The top speed on purely electric power is 150 km/h (94 mph).

To shorten the time the customer has to wait for the 918 Spyder, Porsche is offering everyone placing an order the exclusive opportunity to acquire a 911 Turbo S “Edition 918 Spyder”, also limited to no more than 918 units. Visually, both inside and out, the special edition is inspired by the 918 Spyder's characteristic individual features. That includes the distinctive acid green features such as the specific and part-embroidered model logos and seams, the instrument cluster needles, the specific PCM screen and illuminated door entry guards. The limited edition badge on the glove compartment lid bears the same number as the 918 Spyder the customer has ordered. The 911 Turbo S “Edition 918 Spyder” can also be ordered in the same colour.

Both the technology and basic equipment of the new 911 Turbo S “Edition 918 Spyder” are based on the 530 hp (295 kW) 911 Turbo S. In the case of the special edition, the already comprehensive standard equipment is complemented in particular by an enhanced leather interior, a special instrumentation version and additional carbon elements both inside and out.

The 911 Turbo S “Edition 918 Spyder” is being offered to coincide with the commencement of sales of the 918 Spyder with deliveries starting in June 2011. The Coupé version of the special edition costs 173,241 Euro in Germany and 184,546 Euro as a Cabriolet – including VAT and country-specific equipment items respectively.
